We are pleased to add paint investigation to our list of services. Paint analysis can be very useful in not only determining a structure's original color, but it's history. Paint analysis can be used in dating parts of a structure. Paint analysis consists of onsite examination with methods such as cratering and the taking of samples for microscopy. Photomicrographs can also be provide to document layering and colors. Samples of colors maybe matched to the Musell system or a paint manufacturer or a custom color sample can be provided. Areas that analysis or documentation indicate may have decorative painting should be exposed for documentation. (Exposures should be left to the experienced professional) Below are photomicrographs of a cratered paint sample and two of mounted cross sections of Seminole Rest siding.
